CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav spoke about the company’s plans for the future at an investor meeting this week. The executive reiterated that the studio’s focus will be on major franchises, and even mentioned future projects with the Super man and with the universe Harry Potter.
Zaslav said (via Variety):
We haven’t had a Superman movie in 13 years. We haven’t made a new Harry Potter in 15 years. The two franchises have brought Warner a lot of profit over the last 25 years. […] The focus will be on the great movies loved around the world. Movies that people queue up at premieres. And we have a lot of those. It’s worth a little correction that, in fact, the most recent Superman solo movie was in 2013, with The Man of Steel and the wizard saga ended with Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in 2011.
The franchise continued with the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016), which has two sequels. In the books, the original story followed with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child not yet released for the big screen.
