The Addams Family is about to get a new live-action version in Wandinha the series of Netflix. Interpreter of the protagonist, the actress Jenna Ortega revealed that the project brought challenges both on and off screen.
The young woman opened up about the issues during a conversation with Christina Ricci who played Wandinha in the Addams Family films in the 1990s. colleague, Ortega made a point of saying that he avoided repeating what had been done previously with the character, especially since this is a different version:
The times we saw Wandinha, she was 5 or 10 years old. So when someone is saying something dark and evil and it comes from a place of honesty and innocence, there is this naive aspect of the child. Jenna Ortega also revealed that the serial nature of Wandinha brought an extra difficulty to the project. captained by Tim Burton the team of directors brought extra pressure by coming up with very different ideas about how the young woman should behave:
I felt like everyone wanted different things from her. I remember Tim didn’t want me to have any facial expressions or emotions. He wanted a dull surface, which I understand. It’s really fun and great, except when you’re trying to move a plot forward and Wandinha is in every scene.
Ultimately, Ortega revealed that she had to fight to get the filmmakers to trust her vision for the character. One question she took seriously, knowing that the production has different focuses:
There were a lot of battles like that because I felt like people didn’t always trust me when I was creating my path in terms of ok, this is her arc, this is where she gets emotional. And it also happens that in the first episode there is a lot going on. You need to present the whole story. Meanwhile, I was still finding my footings, and they had cello lessons, archery lessons, this and that.
