Britney Spears father has applied to terminate conservatorship

The application could be an end to the big case Britney Spears has had running to finally be free and her own again

After 13 years as guardian of his daughter, Jamie Spears has now submitted an application to have the guardianship completed, It happens after he announced on August 12 that he would resign as her guardian based on the public battle with his daughter over the guardianship. Writes Pitchfork .

Pitchfork has received the following explanation from Jamie Spears lawyer Vivian Thoreen about the application and the significance it will have for Britney Spears:

“Mrs Spears has told the court that she wants control of her life back without the safety of guardian. She wants to be able to make decisions regarding her own medical care and decide when, where and how often she should go to therapy.

She wants to control the money she has earned from her career and spend it unattended or unsupervised. She will be able to get married and have a child if she wants to. In short, she wants to live her life as she chooses, without restrictions from a guardian or a court. ”

Jamie Spears lawyer, Vivian Thoreen, also states on his behalf that he has always wished the best for his daughter and now wants to accommodate her wish:

“As Mr Spears has said over and over again, he wants the best for his daughter. If Mrs Spears wants to move, and she thinks she can manage her own life, Mr Spears thinks she should get that chance. “

Britney Spears has been subject to guardianship led by her father since 2008 following a public collapse the year before. The case of guardianship has received a great deal of media attention in recent years, partly due to the #FreeBritney movement.

The movement believes that the guardianship, which greatly limits the star’s opportunities for development, is in violation of basic human rights, and that Spears, despite the guardianship, has been able to record music and tour, which is why she must be presumed to be able to take care of herself.

Application has no immediate effect, so Britney Spears is still subject to guardianship. Britney Spears’ lawyer has requested that it should end on 29 September.
